A CALL TO PARTICIPATE

Dear Friends,

We are excited to be collaborating with the International Education Resource Network (iEARN) to offer some of our curriculum in a new online and interactive format.

A condensed digital version of our Inventing the Future: Leadership and Participation for the 21st Century curriculum, Digi IF, is going to be available to iEARN members and to friends of The Cloud Institute. We would like you to participate! If you are not yet a member of iEARN, we have specified funds to support iEARN membership for up to four schools in our network who are interested in piloting Digi IF with their students.

In this multi-part curriculum, a teacher webinar will be provided in December, followed by six weeks of our Digi IF curriculum. Inventing the Future is designed to challenge high-school students to become leaders of a sustainable local and global community. Through Digi IF, students will learn to become active citizens, envisioning the kind of future they want for their communities, and provide action plans to support sustainable community development.

During the six weeks, students and teachers will gather together via discussion forums and two scheduled video conferences with a Lead Sustainability Educator from The Cloud Institute to discuss the multifaceted concepts of "community" and "citizenship" and their roles in creating a sustainable future. Using iEARN's collaborative platform, students will be able to share their perspectives as citizens of a locally and globally interconnected community and will learn how to measure progress toward their visions.

The program will conclude with an opportunity to present their culminating projects to one another, targeting specific milestones to achieve over a specified timeline. These efforts can presented at the 2011 iEARN Environmental YouthCaN conference in April 2011. The achieved action plans and visions for a sustainable future will be compiled into an "Inventing the Future: Leadership and Participation for the 21st Century" booklet.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Kamdyn Moore, Project and Communication Manager at The Cloud Institute for more details.

We look forward to collaborating with you!
