PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

NJ Learns Keystone Year: Two-Day Workshop Recap | By Moira Wilkinson
“Can we take a group picture? I feel really connected to these people and would love to see a picture of us on our homepage to remind me of our time together.” ~ NJ Learns Keystone Year participant

Thursday, May 26th marked the beginning of the fourth cohort of NJ Learns and it was just about noon on Friday May 27th that one of the participants said this to me. As a social scientist, I’m always studying group dynamics. As an educator, I’m always studying how people learn. His comment was confirmation to me that I wasn’t the only one noticing that something big was happening.

Digi IF Pilot Retrospective
We recently wrapped up our pilot for the Digi IF program, and are thrilled to share with you a few highlights from the program.    Digi IF is a condensed digital version of our Inventing the Future: Leadership and Participation for the 21st Century Curriculum. Inventing the Future is designed to challenge high-school students to become leaders of a sustainable local and global community. Through Digi IF, students learn to become active citizens, envisioning the kind of future they want for their communities, and provide action plans to support sustainable community development. The Digi IF Retrospective Booklet illuminates some of the student interactions and work from the program's first week.  We are excited to revamp Digi IF for the 2011-2012 school year, and will sending out a call for interested teachers in the months to come. We are grateful to iEARN for their program partnership, and thankful for the Bay and Paul Foundations for their generous support.
